You are deciding your future… daily!

Decisions.

We make them all the time.

Many without out consciously thinking about it!

Which is probably one of the biggest mistakes we could possibly make.

Not being aware!

Decisions do decide destiny, and as much as we may or may not be aware, our money story affects how we make everyday life decisions and the numerous decisions we make in our business.
Our money story dictates much of what happens as it relates to our destiny. Your money story is deeply aligned with the story we heard or didn’t hear as children. Sometimes our money story is affected by later events we experience in life that cause us to have STANCE  about money!
If we always heard lack in our homes as it relates to money, or there was a desperation around money; there is not enough, money is hard to come by, that’s only for rich people, etc. it can greatly affect how we currently view money today and the decision we make as it relates to money!
It could be the reason you do or don’t move forward on opportunities or refuse to go to certain environments or events because your money story says, “That’s not for you, or there will be no money left.”

Most parents or guardians meant absolutely no harm in the fear or money story they were creating around money. They shared what they knew and how they saw life. However, it can and often does create a scarcity mindset around money and opportunities. Even a previous loss of a business or opportunity in your adult life can create a fear around money.

If you are making decisions from a place of lack and desperation then you always yield results that equate to that.

I remember going through a hard time in my finances.
New business, new marriage, new baby and a few years later, new financial woes I had not anticipated.
When I think back on those times, I made so many decisions from a place of lack, desperation, and frustration.
  • I wasn’t focused ( properly) on my money, only about chasing it.
  • I was grinding hard… at least I thought, and the more I put action into things the worst it seemed to get.
Turns out
  • I was working hard on the wrong things and making very lack minded decisions!
  • There was a fear of investing in things that would actually allow my business to grow.  I had stopped doing the principal things that create momentum in the abundance flow!
  •  I was too focused on my circumstances and not possibility ( seeing beyond what my natural eyes could see!)

Then I made a REAL decision.
I was no longer accepting my situation. I went back to what was transpiring when things were going well, how was I feeling, what was I thinking and doing when things were much better.
One, I was definitely more focused and measuring my process and progress.
I wasn’t worried about money! I was in a space of belief and creation.

I realized, during my time of lack I  had not properly taken into account my new life and how that would play into my business. Many things had been added to my life without me adjusting and making room!

I needed new systems!
  • I had gotten stuck in the routine of chasing clients and money.
  • Making scarcity decisions in my life and business, not decisions that would actually bring in more.
  • Only really focusing only how I could hold onto the seemingly dwindling finances coming in!
THAT SPACE, that type of decision making… only recreates the same thing.

I blamed it on the economy, it was around the time of a supposed recession, that was the buzz and the fear being created all around me, on tv, on the news and just about everyone I spoke to.#whoyoulistentomatters

I had a sit down with myself, quickly, not as quick as I should have, but quick enough to turn things around.

I thought to myself. “What’s the real problem here?”
It was my thinking!
I said, “Hey, there are other salons that are still doing well in the same city, in the same area.
I was making decisions from a place of lack and desperation.. not from a space of abundance, where clients are unlimited, resources are unlimited and everything I need is available to me.

I re-checked my salon vision and wrote it down.
That led to another HUGE opportunity, (I’ll share at another time)
Write your VISION DOWN!

I began opening my mind to the possibility.
This means my mind was open to new strategies, actually investing in my business for the next level( and not sitting in fear)

I  had to realign with the abundance around me.

Take a moment, think about how you’ve been making decisions lately?
Have they been from a place of lack and desperation( not enough)
or abundance?
If so, you’ve been making decisions from a space of lack and desperation thinking.

This type of thinking always stifles your growth!

What was the last opportunity you were faced with that you turned down because of the cost?
Learn to look at opportunities from a space of value, not cost.  Instead, think of how much impact and growth it will allow you.

I remember the early years of my marriage, my husband would spend sometimes two days cutting the grass. We had a huge yard!  It took two days because he would start on it after work then spend almost all day Saturday or Sunday finishing.
He enjoyed working in the yard, but I felt it would be more “valuable” to hire someone so we could spend that time growing our family and doing things we loved.
  •  Maybe for you, it’s not cutting the grass but maybe hiring help cleaning the home!  There are people who love cleaning house and maybe your time would be spent doing something more valuable to you or your business.
  • Maybe you need help in the salon; an assistant or front desk and you see it only as an expense. But those two positions can free up your time and help push your business forward.
  •  Maybe it was a course you knew would send your business SOARING, but you looked at the cost and not the value.

These are the type of decisions business owners are faced with making all the time.

Knowing how much impact and growth the opportunity will allow you is the VALUE of the opportunity!

Don’t think from a space of
“That won’t work for me. I’ll never be able to afford that”
Or
“That type of setting is not for me, it’s for those type of people”…
Whatever that means 🙂
You were born for the EXCEPTIONAL things in life!
You were created with abundance and possibility in mind!

5 Things that affect your ability to LEVEL UP!

If you’re reading this, the words LEVEL UP are probably not new to you at all.

It is a catch phrase that is common throughout many social media platforms.
Music artists are even developing their songs around the words LEVEL UP!
Leveling up is normally centered around going to the next level.
But how does it happen?
This can be different for different people.

  • Some are birthed in an environment where people are intentionally operating at the highest version of themselves. Always intent on being their best self and it’s just normal.
  • Some just happen to be in the right environment where they saw something or someone they admired that sparked their desire to do things differently.
  • Some embrace their next level because they simply got tired of the results they were getting in their lives and decided they were going to do something different!
  • Others began the process of next level by their spiritual awareness. Where they truly began to understand their birthright of abundance.

Whatever the case may be, I’m willing to bet all 5 of the things I mention below had a great impact on the ease of obtaining their portion of NEXT LEVEL.

Firstly, each month I pick a topic for the month and this months topic is

“Operating at The Highest Version of Yourself”

…and much of leveling up is just that.

So I thought I’d take a moment to talk about some of the things that affect your ability to level up.

  1. Vision

Now I talk about this often but today maybe it will shed new light. One of the major things that affect your ability to measure up is having a vision. One of the collective trends I’ve noticed as working with hair stylist and salon owners is that many are unclear on specifics of where it is they really want the fullness of their salon career or salon business to head( their vision). There are also salon professionals who don’t have one.
That was me years ago early in my career. I actually just wanted to do a lot of hair and make a lot of money with no clear path of where I actually wanted that to lead me. This was a consistent flow of only doing clients but not necessarily getting to a new level. It wasn’t until I got clear on where I wanted the skill set that I had acquired and the business that I was building to actually take me. Like long-term, 5 years later even 20 years later.

I got a clear vision!
If you’re just doing hair and only wanting to get more clients and do more hair that will be the consistent theme of your time in the industry even when you desire more! Having a vision is going to be one of the major factors of you leveling up. It will guide what you do daily, push you to stretch and grow, and ultimately help you create a salon career and lifestyle you love!

2-Your Perception of Yourself
“How On Earth does how I see myself affect my ability to level up?”
Now, you know I have an example for you.  🙂 One that I really want you to take a moment to process and see if you’ve been doing in your own situation!
If you don’t have the proper perception of yourself you will build a salon career that you don’t love, where you feel cheated, slighted, and unworthy of your next level.
Imagine you’re facing a little lack or uncertainty in your life. During these times you recognize you run more sales in your business, everything is always “going to be on sale”. It’s kind of like you subconsciously say. “If I make it cheap… I can get more butts in seats.”
Which is rarely true.

You ultimately end up feeling

Overworked
Tired
Underpaid
and struggle to get some of those same customers to pay you when there is no longer a sale! (It kinda becomes your BRAND in the marketplace) unless that’s the goal!
You even begin feeling the client can’t afford the true value of your services.
What’s actually happening is you are transferring what YOU FEEL YOU CAN AFFORD!

You’re transferring that onto the customers that you serve.

You’re letting it roll throughout how you build your business.

Subconsciously you’re saying,

“My client can’t afford a $200 service because you can’t see yourself paying that in your current situation.
The important thing to understand here is not to build your business based on what you can afford in the season! It’s important to have an abundance mindset where you are basing your service prices on the value of the service and not what you feel you can afford at this time. This is a huge reason I teach heavily on your mindset, your spirituality, and your personal development. They are all so important because we build how we feel.
So your perception of yourself and what’s going on in your life is going to be how you build your business. Build your business based on the value you provide to your customers.

You also have to understand just how valuable you and your services are.

Not knowing this will keep you from leveling up.
When you shift how you see yourself, the higher version of yourself will out-speak that lower version of you and see the need to level up… in every area of your salon business and life!
THE HIGHEST VERSION OF YOU IS NEVER CONFUSED!
IT CHOOSES GREATER!

It will always tell you to go and get what you deserve!

  • Take the Higher Road!
  • Spend time affirming yourself!
  • Spend time confirming your vision!

And if you don’t have one, make that priority to get one!

3-Spending the majority of time doing things that are good.. but not great.

Distractions don’t necessarily distract you because they’re easily recognized as bad. Normally distractions are able to do their job because they are seemingly good.
Oftentimes, many salon professionals spend a lot of time investing in things that are good but not things that are great for their personal career. Not things that align fully with where it is they desire to go and who it is they desire to become. Spending time on things that aren’t horrible at all but they aren’t great for your long-term goals can gravely affect you getting to the next level
Good is the enemy of great.
I.E.
You have things on your list of things to do that would fully align you with getting to your next level for your career. But your phone rings.
Three to four times throughout the day. It’s all of your good girlfriends. It’s people you care about having a conversation with. Not about anything overly serious. Just chit-chatting.
But at the given time, because you have specific things that you need to be done by certain times, it’s not the greatest option for you to choose at that moment. But, you do it anyway and spend 2-4 hours in conversation pushing your alignment list to the back burner… yet again.

Or

Maybe you belong to a committee or organization that you’ve been a part of for years. But you’ve grown and evolved and the organization no longer serves you.
It’s a great organization, but it simply doesn’t align anymore with where you are heading!
But… you stay connected, spending hours, and weekends each month with obligations to the committee or club.
Let it go.

Give someone else the space to fulfill.

Pass the torch and consider things that align more fully with where you are heading!
You are not a bad person for growing on to greater! Your desire and the highest version of you would choose to align and implement things necessary for your next level and schedule time for those good conversations later.

Don’t let good be the enemy of great!

 4 Your environment

Your environment has to be conducive to where you want to go! We are creatures of habit and some of the environments we finagle in are simply based on what we’ve always done and where we’ve always gone.
You no longer Vibe with the environment.
You no longer feel comfortable with the conversations in the environment, but still, continue to go.

Choosing can seem hard.

It’s what you’ve always done, with the people you’ve always done it with. Changing it can be uncomfortable! You are afraid of people feeling as though you think you are better than them, what they are going to think. Your destiny will require you to dislodge from environments that no longer serve who you are or who you desire to become.

Your environment is so important.

Things you see, what you hear, and how you feel, all three of those components are huge as it relates to leveling up and are affected by your environment! If the picture you see is always the same

if it doesn’t stretch you

If it doesn’t make your heart desire what’s at the next level… chances are great that you need a change in environment.

I always encourage my clients to intentionally go to environments that remind them of their next level, sit at the table with people who want things similar to you, if not greater.

Your environment affects your ability to level up!
5- Your conversations
Not just the conversations you’re willing to have, but the conversations you’re willing to entertain I’ve seen some of the same people on social media, 1 year complaining( the snooze option is a great thing) about the same type of people in their lives, people that disappoint them, people that use them, people that hurt them. After a while, you wonder why they continue to entertain them!

You definitely get to choose the conversations that you allow. Ultimately what is being poured into you, what is allowed in your ear gate is what will come out.
For me, it was huge when I understood just how important what I was listening to was as it related to my next level.

If we are always having conversations or involvement with people who suck our energy dry, how do you find the energy needed for the next level?

What you continue to listen to and converse about will continue to be your reality! You need conversations that influence you to greater, affirm you, inform you, enlighten you about LEVELING UP!

You will consistently attract what you focus on the most!
There are so many things we may overlook that affect our ability to get to the next level!

I had a conversation where I go a little deeper about this in a video training.

Disconnect to Reconnect

How often do you shut it all down, turn off the TV, turn off the routine, put the phones down, turn off all of the external things that stimulate you and dictate your drive… your thinking?

I took this picture a few weeks ago when I was out to eat with a friend of mine and our daughters!

You have to know my back story about phones and children.

It’s been the hardest thing for me to align and agree with in this technology-based world.

However, I  gave into the convincing my daughter did with her father and grandmother.( who in turned double-teamed me 🙂

So still to my uncomfortableness, she has phone under very limited terms and I am still not a stickler for children with phones at certain ages.

Anyway, I digress from that because I can make the entire blog post support my thoughts on children and phones! LOL!

So, as we sat down to eat, I noticed everyone had their phone. My first thoughts were, “If everyone is on the phone, how do we connect?”

So I made a suggestion and this is where the phones ended up! On the table!

We went to eat to enjoy each other, to catch up, to converse, to really see about the individuals we were spending time with.

I ran across the picture today and thought that’d be a great blog post to share with you.

How often do we turn it all off and just sit and become aware?

So often we’re in our routine of life and no matter what it is that we desire, even if it’s right in front of us, because of our busyness, it sometimes passes us by.

Regardless of what your desires are for your salon career and life, sometimes the constant thoughts that you have, that can be fear based or small thinking,  override everything our heart’s desire… Without even noticing!

It’s not until we get to the place where we find time consistently to shut everything off and ask ourselves,

“Is this what I desire the rest of my salon career, my business, my relationships, and life to look like? Am I doing things that collectively bring me fulfillment and meet my true heartfelt goals!”

It is only then, when we take time to reflect and ask the RIGHT questions, in our quiet space, that we can think with full clarity!

Is what I’m doing working, am I happy, fulfilled, is my business growing, are my relationships healthy, am I  heading towards creating a lifestyle I truly love, etc.?

The time you take to disconnect from everyone else’s story on social media. the way everyone else is running their business, everyone else’s opinions, and truths, is when you can align fully with your own.

In that space, you can actually decide to connect with what matters the most, TO YOU!

It’s a place of fresh perspective!

Decide clearly how you want it to be! (Your life and business)

This is the place where you begin taking full responsibility for your thoughts.

 After all, thoughts become things!

They dictate much of what happens and transpires in our biz and life!

It’s so easy to be in a routine, where your true goals and desires are mere words you don’t align with, simply because you don’t break the routine, because you don’t take time to disconnect to reconnect.

It’s always during my disconnect times that I get my AHA to re-shift in my business, that I get my aha’s about parenting differently or loving differently or even warnings about the need for new information or a shift in order to continue on with my desired goals!

During my disconnect times, I am able to be present, with my own thoughts, what’s REALLY transpiring in my life and biz, what I want to do, be and have, and what I desire the rest of my salon career and my business to look like.

I shut everything down!

I shut down all of my responsibilities to answer the questions about what I truly, truly desire… and then I make a commitment ( to myself) to aligning with the directions or actions that will take me there!

Set out an amount of time daily to this.

Be consistent with it.

You’ll find that the bigger your goals and dreams are the more time you’ll need to spend thinking” and being!

This will allow you to create an even more EXCEPTIONAL life an business without allowing distractions to take you too far off course of your hearts desires!

Do you take time to disconnect so you can reconnect with what you truly desire?

Action Step/ Challenge:

  •  I challenge you to set a time daily to disconnect.
  •  Over the next 30 days, practice this.
  • Be aware of where you are on a journey, what’s important to you and how you need to continue aligning or possibly re-shift!
  • Take time to be in the moment with everything and everyone you embrace and see how it matches where you truly desire to head!

Be sure to say hello when you pop on.

Let me know you discovered the Live Broadcast through my blog.

The things that shited my life !

I’ve had some truly defining moments in my life.
One, in particular, I remember crying profusely, like a baby when I got the revelation of all the money that had passed through my hands as a hairstylist, and I only had about 1 thousand dollars to my name and that was literally from the money I had made the week prior. I paid my bills on time, but the rest of my money was spent shopping, traveling, etc.
I got the revelation through a series of conversations. They were coming back to back.
The first conversation:
How much are you worth?( I was confused because I thought they were speaking of self-worth)- well actually at the root they were.
But, they challenged me to look at the debt I had and subtract it from the money I had saved.
I was in the red.
About 1 month later, what I’d like to call an angel, challenged me with similar questions.. but more detailed.
  • How much money do you have saved
  • How much money do you budget to just blow
  • How much money do you spend shopping
  • How much money do you spend eating out… the list goes on.
When that conversation was done, I was crying like a baby. I really thought the way I was building my life was fine. But you don’t know what you don’t know.

The third conversation was a client, about 2 weeks later.
My client encouraged me to open a CD and put money into it monthly. It was a $50 dollar minimum.
At first, I hesitated because my mind said, “I can make fifty dollars in 30 minutes behind the chair,”
But the reality was $50 monthly would be $50 more than what I had saved at the time.

So I said. “Why not?”

I had already started a strict budget for my second conversation and this just fell in line.

Over time I increased my savings to $100 monthly, $200 monthly, $300, $400.. until I was able to pay off debt, open my salon debt free and find a measure of freedom! It’s one of the reason’s I share my budgeting strategies with stylists that I work with now. I know oh too well what making the money, but not doing the right thing with it feels like!
It was a pivotal point in my life.
And it changed the way I looked at everything.
But even with that, there was another shift that needed to occur.
I will share that on next weeks blog post!
These transitional points in my life caused me to study and invest in things that would surely make what was not working… a new found truth.
How many times have you done something that felt right at the time, only to gain some new information and realize you were not living to your highest good!
I call these transitional moments. In those times, we have 2 choices, we can take a chance to reach higher or stay where we are and settle.

My transitional moments have not been comfortable for the most part, but they have been so rewarding when I embraced them.
What are some transitional moments that happened to you in your life and business?
How did you walk through those times?
For me, I know when I am facing a transitional time. I’ll start hearing the same thing over and over, I’ll hit a wall and can’t go forward, or things simply no longer work the way they use to! And sometimes I simply feel a burning desire to do things differently!

I usually take time to truly process where I am and what my desires are for my future!  Afterthought and prayer, I usually know that transition is what I need for next! I’ve learned not to be so afraid during transition, but to embrace it. What often looks like the opposition is often opportunity!

I’d love to hear some transitional times in your life or business that turned out amazing for you and how you handle transition.

I’ll be sharing another transitional time I’ve experienced in next week’s blog. Be sure to check back!

Not Perfect But Progressing

What a blessing!

I remember this day!
I was blessed to be in the presence of some really great and powerful future salon industry professionals a few years back at Miller-Motte College.

I taught a group of cosmetology students who had not yet entered the world, as they would know it, of the salon industry.

Studies show that only 1 in 4 students who attend cosmetology school actually go on to make it a career and retire from it!

I wanted to impart something that would possibly cause that number to rise!

I wanted to leave them with something that would help them stay focused and effective while on their career path.

I saw so much greatness. These fresh starters had the whole world in front of them and the possibilities were unlimited.

Here, Check Out The Selfies We took!

I wore one of my favorite shirts on purpose. Simply to remind them, “You don’t have to be perfect, as long as you are progressing and giving it your best!

Are you waiting to market your services, waiting to start your career, waiting to tell people about what you do when you feel it’s perfect?

We really have to check that internal voice of ours to make sure we aren’t listening to the wrong expectations from our self. This is why it’s so important to celebrate small wins.

What are 3 things you can think of off the top of your head that you have done, completed or succeeded in lately?

Not that it was perfect, or huge, but simply because you did it! Perfecting is a process that happens while you are in action.

I wanted to remind the students of this on that day. I felt it would help them as they move forward in their career.

So many special moments occur for me internally when I teach.

One future professional approached me after class and said, “You changed my self-esteem and how I see myself.”

“WOW”.

That’s huge.

Mainly because how we see our self-determines what we feel we deserve and ultimately what we will be willing to try or do differently.

I gave them strategies to start immediately that will help them in their career path. Like, finding a mentor, coach, consultant, or friend who has been where they are headed. Someone who could help guide them through steps that would help to assure they don’t make as many mistakes or direct them on a path that would save time in achieving their goals and a few headaches in hopes they would not give up!

It’s so important that we have positive people we are connected to, who are goal-oriented and focused, to help us maintain our momentum as well.  For me, if I have changed at least one life in each event I host, I have fulfilled my assignment for the day. Helping someone avoid distractions and some of the things that slow up progress is important to me because I know how easy it is to get bombarded with information, wrong opportunities and doubt.

I share this with you because doing what you love and getting paid is possible. I absolutely love what I do!

Do you enjoy what you do?

Are you walking out your dream career or business?

Successful people do it every day. One step at a time, making mistakes and perfecting them as they go!

Successful people have figured out the systems and strategies that simplify life so that what matters most is what they focus their time and energy on. This is truly how people become successful and prosper.
If you know you deserve greater than where you are right now, it may not be that you are doing anything wrong, just not enough of doing what is right and most of that is found while MOVING!

Starting with your thinking.

It really doesn’t have to be perfect in order to see progress.

I understand wanting to do your “it” different. Setting goals to improve and grow are important. But it doesn’t have to be perfect to start!

Maybe you want to open a new salon business, and make more money in your hairstylist career, or learn new strategies to begin creating a business and life you love!

Just remember:

You don’t have to be perfect or have everything right, but you do have to start!

Often, we wait for things to be absolutely perfect and that time never comes!

Perfecting is a process!

You have to just set yourself on the path to achieving the business and life you desire!

Owning your time.. smashing your goals!

People aren’t as guilty of wasting their own time as they are of allowing other people to.

I took on a fascination with planning after years of avoiding my mom’s advice of writing things down in the ever so trusty planner she bought me, without fail, every year since graduating high school.

I learned that things just flowed better for me if I had it written down.

However, even with writing it down, I had to adjust my life and schedule to find time to do the things on the list!

You know those list you write and still don’t get the items done.

I soon learned that prioritizing my time was also a huge part of smashing my goals.

When I listen to entrepreneurs who struggle to accomplish goals or put things in place that allow them greatness for the future, one of the main things I find is the habit of not knowing what to exchange when using their time wisely.

EXCHANGE?

Did you know, for every new thing you want to merge into your life or business, there is an exchange that must be made!

Like, you have to move something around or get rid of it all together. (bummer)

And surprisingly enough, entrepreneurs don’t just struggle with what to exchange as it relates to their time, but allowing other people to waste their time is a huge part too!

When you are set on creating the lifestyle and business that you love you really have to begin evaluating what you do with your time. Some good opportunities are not always great for your specific destiny.

When you’re focused on having more for your family, providing, being comfortable with your finances, not just hit or miss, you must learn to protect your time.

Decide what conversations and events are time busters and which really impact your business and life in a way that’s actually rewarding!

Be more deliberate and intentional about the events you agree to.

Is your ideal customer there, does it allow you to make future connections for your business, do you maximize your time while there?

Take time to evaluate some of the things that are stealing your time.

Time is the one thing that we can’t get back.

Over and over again, if not careful, the habit of passing the same things over each year to our list becomes routine!

If you really are looking for change, as you move forward and progress from 2017 to 2018 protect your time.

Here’s  are some things to consider as it relates to time management!

  • Evaluate what you’re doing with your time and how you’re allowing other people to waste it. It’s often a huge overlooked part of the process of figuring out how to find time to implement what’s needed to move forward.

You know, the unexpected phone calls from people who, if honest, the information can wait!

The people who make their urgency your emergency.

At the end of the year, you simply wonder, “Where did time go?”

I call those triggers. Things that throw you off of your flow and distract you from being productive.

I  do an exercise in a few of my private coaching courses that help my clients really become aware of those triggers.

  • Triggers can be people, places, or things we allow to enter our flow and distract us, slow us down, or move us off the path to destiny!

Even people with good intentions can be a trigger. Their timing is just not right for you.

It’s not always easy having to tell people, “I’ll call you later”, or, “These are my work hours, a more convenient time to talk would be…” Especially if it’s family!

You have to own your time.

There are things we allow into our lives that are simply out of synch with destiny plans.

Find clarity and grasp a level of awareness of where you really want to head.

Get flat-footed and centered on the things that are most important in your life… that is really going to help you create the business and the lifestyle that you love.

  • binging on social media

So many things we overlook that we can exchange in order to get to next level!

Learn what your time busters are!

What can you get firm about and make an exchange that will give you time to do the necessary.

Make a conscious effort to measure what you do with your time over the next week.

Journal it.

Then look to see where there are things that you can eliminate or shift til later while you work on things needed in your business that will help you smash your goals for 2018!

The sacrifices you make now will offer you the freedom you desire for later!

Thoughts on Hurricane Matthew

In lieu of all of the things that have been occurring around the world concerning Hurricane Matthew, from Haiti to Florida , South Carolina, and even the state in which I live, North Carolina, the incidents left me in thought of 5 specific things:

Preparation
Foundation
What Matters Most
Togetherness
and Faith.

Not sure if you heard about the destruction caused by Hurricane Matthew that affected our nation, but it’s times like this that many people recognize just how much our daily lives are intertwined and affect one another. It makes you understand just how much tragedy, success, and even wellness can be a factor in the life of one individual ,one city, one town, one state, and somehow spread throughout the world. It definitely highlights a right perspective on just how valuable lives are.

I’m sure you have goals, dreams, and visions that will not only impact your life but, your family’s life, and many many other people around you. The warnings of the storm made me think about preparation and what I do with the time I’m given.

During this storm season, not everyone had access to the news, media ,or even the finances or resources to do early preparation. When I say preparation, I mean things like purchasing batteries, flashlights, non- perishable foods, or packing toiletries or over- night bags in case of an emergency. Some who heard the warning may have taken it for granted. After all, it’s so unusual and seemingly far-fetched. Some decided to stay in areas that were warned to evacuate.(some had no choice) Some may have attempted to go out in the weather to gather last minute supplies and found they were redirected to shelters with no return home because nature had taken its course.

It really made me think of all the times in the past I had taken things for granted. It was actually a terrible habit of mine in my earlier years. It would irritate me to hear my mother constantly reminding me to do this or do that or solemnly asking me had I taken care of simple details in house keeping or life responsibilities. Making necessary calls to get things fixed, oil in my car, you know, those things that become derailed by other seemingly important things. We can take things for granted. It’s so easy to do because of our daily responsibilities, daily routine, daily habits, or just really not thinking things are that serious.

If you are anything like me, life may have beaten you up for a while, in the attempt of teaching you a lesson. I gained a new perspective and decided to do things in advance. I decided to expect the best  but prepare for “just in case”.

If my journey has taught me a few significant things, one would definitely be the power of preparation. Preparation is powerful. Although my home lost no power during the storm, we had minimal damage concerning our property and were blessed in comfort, I place some of that comfort on the fact that weeks prior to these events, I began preparing. My connection with a Kingdom individual warned me of the possible need for preparation. (Who you are next to matters) I begin to stock up on batteries, water, non-perishable foods, flashlights and even packed bags and important paperwork. Some of the comfort I felt was surely because I was prepared, as much as I could, “just in case”. There was a level of personal security for me and my family.

While preparing and looking for important papers, I found pictures, looked at memories and shared smiles with my family. I realized that out of everything, there were only a few things of true importance with the limited space to transport things. Things like family pictures were high on my list. Of course, I grabbed things like insurance policies, birth certificates, social security cards, important financial things, laptop cords, etc. But I realized that few things, other than life, were really important in those moments.
Pursuing your dreams is much like that. You have to decide what to do with the time you have and what is most important to divulge your energy into.
I often post a quote about “doing what matters most” on my social media connections like Facebook and Instagram! I thought of that a few times. “Doing what matters most”

In your daily life there will be many things that you can do with your time, your energy, and your resources, but doing what matters most will always yield the greatest peace and prosperity.

Those things will be the building blocks of the foundation for your life, your business and those you are connected to. During the time of storms or even opportunities in life, the foundation that you have built on will determine how things stand or remain.

What are some things that are really important to you? Are there things you can re-shift in your time throughout your daily routine that will cause peace in your pursuit?

Are there some things in your business that will make a significant difference in the outcome if you re-shifted your focus, prepare, and to get it done?

How can you prepare to come up in comfort?

Whether it’s staying informed and relevant, devising a plan to profit, structuring your business differently so it operates more effectively, some of the simple small things you prepare behind the scenes will make your process that much smoother and offer a sense of security emotionally.

Are there some habits holding you back from experiencing greater?

Doing the most valuable things in season and even preparation can feel like such a sacrifice while everyone else is enjoying themselves, laughing, and having a good time. It may seem like you are missing out on all the fun, sometimes. However, with balance, you can live the life you love with a greater measure of security because you are prepared.
Because you are simply, doing what matters most.

Doing this will require a great measure of faith. This is where my thoughts led during this tragic time of hurricane Matthew in our country.
Circumstances where your money looks a little funny, things aren’t going well in your business, you need new answers and new opportunities, this is where faith has to kick in the loudest.
Faith can often be misunderstood or vary in it’s full definition from one person to the next. Some feel, “If I have faith, I don’t have to prepare.”God will take care it all!”
Here is where my revelation of faith differs. I believe that faith is an action word. I believe that hope is even an action word, but faith shows movement. There are many things that God can and will do in our lives, but our faith and the part that we play in our life, our business, and daily pursuit will definitely allow God an opportunity to put his super to your natural. This puts you at an even greater door of opportunity. It allows you to be in a more comfortable position during times of adversity(or avoid it all together) if you have the faith to prepare.

How BIG is your faith? Are you preparing behind the scenes for greatness? Are you “doing what matters most?”

These were the major points and thoughts I was left with during this most recent storm: Preparation, Foundation, Doing What Matters Most, Togetherness, and Faith!

Maybe you were left with thoughts as well, even if your state wasn’t affected and you saw it on the news, I’d love to hear about your time of reflection. Feel free to leave your thoughts below.
May God bless and keep everyone, as we are all affected in some way, whether it’s tangibly evident or not, or immediately impacted by our daily decisions. What you do impacts the world. You have purpose.
Our lives matter to one another!

Each One Teach One!

each-one-teach-oneThree positions that you need for Destiny.

The amazing thing is that many of you are already in the three positions whether you know it or not.

The first position you need as you are headed to your destiny is someone that you are teaching

Now granted, the way these three positions are listed in this post are not necessarily the order in which you should look to walk in or obtain them. However, they are all needed and would be great to have all of these positions working properly in your life at the same time to yield greater measures of success. This should be your intentional goal!

Why do you need someone you are teaching?

One of the reasons you need someone you are teaching is because there is always someone in the world who needs a measure of guidance. I’m sure you can remember a time where you just need someone’s advice who had already gone in the direction you are going. There are many people waiting for that same type of information for their break through to their next level. If you have already accomplished something or gone a certain measure of steps you likely have valuable information to share with someone else, whether it’s what to do or what not to do!

Did you know someone may already consider you their teacher, even if they haven’t told you? People make people their mentor’s from a far without even making them aware! They may not have tapped you on the shoulder and made you aware. They may not have said, “Hey, I’m following you” Remember I said some of the positions you may be operating in and may not be aware.

People who need understanding often look at people who have titles such as a Realtor, photographer, Licensed Cosmetologist, husband, wife, mother, father,  or someone with a Ph. D because they desire that position.

We need to be in a position where we want to do better, not just because we are teaching someone else , but because we know we deserve better and as we develop personally we bring increase into our lives!

Side Bar:

How many of you know that just because a person holds a title does not mean they will fulfill the position properly.

Therefore there are advantages to being aware of when you are actually operating in these positions for greater. Being aware makes you more sensitive to how you do life and how you do business. Awareness gives you an even greater desire to do business on an even greater. Not only does it help the person who is watching you but it also helps you in developing in your measure of success and greatness as well.

The Second Position needed for Destiny is a Peer Group

A peer group is a group of people approximately the same age, headed in the same direction, with similar goals, and daily life activities.

Here are some advantages of a Peer Group.

~A Peer Group gives you insight for overcoming obstacles

~You can gain collective information about contacts or resources from those in your peer group

~Also, accessible support from those in a peer group is available. You will need good support and accountability to maintain the motivation and momentum need to complete your goals and desires.

Actually, trying to do it alone can slow up or hinder the momentum for your destiny!

Many of you have a peer group but may not be aware of it!. They are the 5 People you spend the most time with!

Theses 5 people will affect your belief, your income, your decisions and ultimately your destiny.

Like individuals headed in the same direction will have similar experiences when shared will let you know some of the things you are facing are normal!

The Third Position Needed for Destiny is Someone to teach you!

Let’s face it, where you are now is based on the information you had up until this point. Next level will require new next level information!

Whether you choose a Life Coach, Mentor, or Business Consultant they should have few qualities.

~They should have information and experience about your “next” level, the areas you are stuck in, and strategies to get there.

They should have similar values as you do
because they will share information through their experience that will likely head you in similar directions.

If you find that you have all of these positions in place but you are still stuck in your business, I invite you to join my next virtual online class on October 19 right from your home called “LEVEL UP”. It a class on Clarity to provide things business owners need in today’s time to be relevant and prosper. You will be able to have a level up conversation to see if you have things in place that are going to help get you unstuck and onto your next level!.

Want to live your best life? You gotta plan it!

Do you feel like your life is being sucked up behind the chair?

Often times stylist feel stuck to the chair.

~If you don’t go to work  you don’t get paid.

~If you don’t work on the busiest days of the week you will loose your clients.

This is how many stylists feel! Mentality  feeling stuck behind the chair.

Although you love your craft, you don’t want to spend your whole life behind the chair!

For about half of my career (20+ years as a licensed cosmetologist), I might have taken 10 Saturday’s off  that weren’t work related, up until the last 5-7 years of my career. When I realized this, I knew I had to change.  I realized I needed a plan.

I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist for over 20 years.  I now only work two Saturdays or less per month, (some months I don’t work on Saturdays at all) and only work two late evenings each month! I take 8-day vacations without being stressed about client loss or added pressure of income lack. I was only able to do it with a plan

Are you living your best life?
Do you feel stuck in a routine that is not giving you the fullness of life you feel you deserve?
Do you want to take your family on a dream vacation? Do you feel overworked and underpaid?

`Planning becomes power when you understand why. When you truly understand the importance of planning it changes everything! When I begin to plan my life it shifted everything around me for the better. I wake up with purpose and clarity, I’m happier and more fulfilled. The list goes on.
