5 Things that affect your ability to LEVEL UP!

If you’re reading this, the words LEVEL UP are probably not new to you at all.

It is a catch phrase that is common throughout many social media platforms.
Music artists are even developing their songs around the words LEVEL UP!
Leveling up is normally centered around going to the next level.
But how does it happen?
This can be different for different people.

  • Some are birthed in an environment where people are intentionally operating at the highest version of themselves. Always intent on being their best self and it’s just normal.
  • Some just happen to be in the right environment where they saw something or someone they admired that sparked their desire to do things differently.
  • Some embrace their next level because they simply got tired of the results they were getting in their lives and decided they were going to do something different!
  • Others began the process of next level by their spiritual awareness. Where they truly began to understand their birthright of abundance.

Whatever the case may be, I’m willing to bet all 5 of the things I mention below had a great impact on the ease of obtaining their portion of NEXT LEVEL.

Firstly, each month I pick a topic for the month and this months topic is

“Operating at The Highest Version of Yourself”

…and much of leveling up is just that.

So I thought I’d take a moment to talk about some of the things that affect your ability to level up.

  1. Vision

Now I talk about this often but today maybe it will shed new light. One of the major things that affect your ability to measure up is having a vision. One of the collective trends I’ve noticed as working with hair stylist and salon owners is that many are unclear on specifics of where it is they really want the fullness of their salon career or salon business to head( their vision). There are also salon professionals who don’t have one.
That was me years ago early in my career. I actually just wanted to do a lot of hair and make a lot of money with no clear path of where I actually wanted that to lead me. This was a consistent flow of only doing clients but not necessarily getting to a new level. It wasn’t until I got clear on where I wanted the skill set that I had acquired and the business that I was building to actually take me. Like long-term, 5 years later even 20 years later.

I got a clear vision!
If you’re just doing hair and only wanting to get more clients and do more hair that will be the consistent theme of your time in the industry even when you desire more! Having a vision is going to be one of the major factors of you leveling up. It will guide what you do daily, push you to stretch and grow, and ultimately help you create a salon career and lifestyle you love!

2-Your Perception of Yourself
“How On Earth does how I see myself affect my ability to level up?”
Now, you know I have an example for you.  🙂 One that I really want you to take a moment to process and see if you’ve been doing in your own situation!
If you don’t have the proper perception of yourself you will build a salon career that you don’t love, where you feel cheated, slighted, and unworthy of your next level.
Imagine you’re facing a little lack or uncertainty in your life. During these times you recognize you run more sales in your business, everything is always “going to be on sale”. It’s kind of like you subconsciously say. “If I make it cheap… I can get more butts in seats.”
Which is rarely true.

You ultimately end up feeling

Overworked
Tired
Underpaid
and struggle to get some of those same customers to pay you when there is no longer a sale! (It kinda becomes your BRAND in the marketplace) unless that’s the goal!
You even begin feeling the client can’t afford the true value of your services.
What’s actually happening is you are transferring what YOU FEEL YOU CAN AFFORD!

You’re transferring that onto the customers that you serve.

You’re letting it roll throughout how you build your business.

Subconsciously you’re saying,

“My client can’t afford a $200 service because you can’t see yourself paying that in your current situation.
The important thing to understand here is not to build your business based on what you can afford in the season! It’s important to have an abundance mindset where you are basing your service prices on the value of the service and not what you feel you can afford at this time. This is a huge reason I teach heavily on your mindset, your spirituality, and your personal development. They are all so important because we build how we feel.
So your perception of yourself and what’s going on in your life is going to be how you build your business. Build your business based on the value you provide to your customers.

You also have to understand just how valuable you and your services are.

Not knowing this will keep you from leveling up.
When you shift how you see yourself, the higher version of yourself will out-speak that lower version of you and see the need to level up… in every area of your salon business and life!
THE HIGHEST VERSION OF YOU IS NEVER CONFUSED!
IT CHOOSES GREATER!

It will always tell you to go and get what you deserve!

  • Take the Higher Road!
  • Spend time affirming yourself!
  • Spend time confirming your vision!

And if you don’t have one, make that priority to get one!

3-Spending the majority of time doing things that are good.. but not great.

Distractions don’t necessarily distract you because they’re easily recognized as bad. Normally distractions are able to do their job because they are seemingly good.
Oftentimes, many salon professionals spend a lot of time investing in things that are good but not things that are great for their personal career. Not things that align fully with where it is they desire to go and who it is they desire to become. Spending time on things that aren’t horrible at all but they aren’t great for your long-term goals can gravely affect you getting to the next level
Good is the enemy of great.
I.E.
You have things on your list of things to do that would fully align you with getting to your next level for your career. But your phone rings.
Three to four times throughout the day. It’s all of your good girlfriends. It’s people you care about having a conversation with. Not about anything overly serious. Just chit-chatting.
But at the given time, because you have specific things that you need to be done by certain times, it’s not the greatest option for you to choose at that moment. But, you do it anyway and spend 2-4 hours in conversation pushing your alignment list to the back burner… yet again.

Or

Maybe you belong to a committee or organization that you’ve been a part of for years. But you’ve grown and evolved and the organization no longer serves you.
It’s a great organization, but it simply doesn’t align anymore with where you are heading!
But… you stay connected, spending hours, and weekends each month with obligations to the committee or club.
Let it go.

Give someone else the space to fulfill.

Pass the torch and consider things that align more fully with where you are heading!
You are not a bad person for growing on to greater! Your desire and the highest version of you would choose to align and implement things necessary for your next level and schedule time for those good conversations later.

Don’t let good be the enemy of great!

 4 Your environment

Your environment has to be conducive to where you want to go! We are creatures of habit and some of the environments we finagle in are simply based on what we’ve always done and where we’ve always gone.
You no longer Vibe with the environment.
You no longer feel comfortable with the conversations in the environment, but still, continue to go.

Choosing can seem hard.

It’s what you’ve always done, with the people you’ve always done it with. Changing it can be uncomfortable! You are afraid of people feeling as though you think you are better than them, what they are going to think. Your destiny will require you to dislodge from environments that no longer serve who you are or who you desire to become.

Your environment is so important.

Things you see, what you hear, and how you feel, all three of those components are huge as it relates to leveling up and are affected by your environment! If the picture you see is always the same

if it doesn’t stretch you

If it doesn’t make your heart desire what’s at the next level… chances are great that you need a change in environment.

I always encourage my clients to intentionally go to environments that remind them of their next level, sit at the table with people who want things similar to you, if not greater.

Your environment affects your ability to level up!
5- Your conversations
Not just the conversations you’re willing to have, but the conversations you’re willing to entertain I’ve seen some of the same people on social media, 1 year complaining( the snooze option is a great thing) about the same type of people in their lives, people that disappoint them, people that use them, people that hurt them. After a while, you wonder why they continue to entertain them!

You definitely get to choose the conversations that you allow. Ultimately what is being poured into you, what is allowed in your ear gate is what will come out.
For me, it was huge when I understood just how important what I was listening to was as it related to my next level.

If we are always having conversations or involvement with people who suck our energy dry, how do you find the energy needed for the next level?

What you continue to listen to and converse about will continue to be your reality! You need conversations that influence you to greater, affirm you, inform you, enlighten you about LEVELING UP!

You will consistently attract what you focus on the most!
There are so many things we may overlook that affect our ability to get to the next level!

I had a conversation where I go a little deeper about this in a video training.

Until next week, look at the 5 areas we discussed and make sure yours align with YOUR NEXT LEVEL!

They all affect your ability to LEVEL UP!

Disconnect to Reconnect

How often do you shut it all down, turn off the TV, turn off the routine, put the phones down, turn off all of the external things that stimulate you and dictate your drive… your thinking?

I took this picture a few weeks ago when I was out to eat with a friend of mine and our daughters!

You have to know my back story about phones and children.

It’s been the hardest thing for me to align and agree with in this technology-based world.

However, I  gave into the convincing my daughter did with her father and grandmother.( who in turned double-teamed me 🙂

So still to my uncomfortableness, she has phone under very limited terms and I am still not a stickler for children with phones at certain ages.

Anyway, I digress from that because I can make the entire blog post support my thoughts on children and phones! LOL!

So, as we sat down to eat, I noticed everyone had their phone. My first thoughts were, “If everyone is on the phone, how do we connect?”

So I made a suggestion and this is where the phones ended up! On the table!

We went to eat to enjoy each other, to catch up, to converse, to really see about the individuals we were spending time with.

I ran across the picture today and thought that’d be a great blog post to share with you.

How often do we turn it all off and just sit and become aware?

So often we’re in our routine of life and no matter what it is that we desire, even if it’s right in front of us, because of our busyness, it sometimes passes us by.

Regardless of what your desires are for your salon career and life, sometimes the constant thoughts that you have, that can be fear based or small thinking,  override everything our heart’s desire… Without even noticing!

It’s not until we get to the place where we find time consistently to shut everything off and ask ourselves,

“Is this what I desire the rest of my salon career, my business, my relationships, and life to look like? Am I doing things that collectively bring me fulfillment and meet my true heartfelt goals!”

It is only then, when we take time to reflect and ask the RIGHT questions, in our quiet space, that we can think with full clarity!

Is what I’m doing working, am I happy, fulfilled, is my business growing, are my relationships healthy, am I  heading towards creating a lifestyle I truly love, etc.?

The time you take to disconnect from everyone else’s story on social media. the way everyone else is running their business, everyone else’s opinions, and truths, is when you can align fully with your own.

In that space, you can actually decide to connect with what matters the most, TO YOU!

It’s a place of fresh perspective!

Decide clearly how you want it to be! (Your life and business)

This is the place where you begin taking full responsibility for your thoughts.

 After all, thoughts become things!

They dictate much of what happens and transpires in our biz and life!

It’s so easy to be in a routine, where your true goals and desires are mere words you don’t align with, simply because you don’t break the routine, because you don’t take time to disconnect to reconnect.

It’s always during my disconnect times that I get my AHA to re-shift in my business, that I get my aha’s about parenting differently or loving differently or even warnings about the need for new information or a shift in order to continue on with my desired goals!

During my disconnect times, I am able to be present, with my own thoughts, what’s REALLY transpiring in my life and biz, what I want to do, be and have, and what I desire the rest of my salon career and my business to look like.

I shut everything down!

I shut down all of my responsibilities to answer the questions about what I truly, truly desire… and then I make a commitment ( to myself) to aligning with the directions or actions that will take me there!

Set out an amount of time daily to this.

Be consistent with it.

You’ll find that the bigger your goals and dreams are the more time you’ll need to spend thinking” and being!

This will allow you to create an even more EXCEPTIONAL life an business without allowing distractions to take you too far off course of your hearts desires!

Do you take time to disconnect so you can reconnect with what you truly desire?

Action Step/ Challenge:

  •  I challenge you to set a time daily to disconnect.
  •  Over the next 30 days, practice this.
  • Be aware of where you are on a journey, what’s important to you and how you need to continue aligning or possibly re-shift!
  • Take time to be in the moment with everything and everyone you embrace and see how it matches where you truly desire to head!

7 Ways To Let Go And Grow your Salon Career

The biggest hurdle to growing your salon career is probably the fact that it’s uncomfortable. Yep, Growth can be uncomfortable! But so worth it!

It often involves restructuring your schedule, delegating( finding the right people to delegate to), changing the details of your role, and letting go of some things you’ve been doing forever.

Some of the things you have to let go of may actually be things you feel good doing because it’s comfortable!

They’ve kinda become a security blanket. But security that only allows you to stay where you are now!

For instance, as a salon owner, you may have gotten comfortable growing “your” clientele and focusing on getting new customers for “you.

But now that you have other people working with you, your mindset has to switch from that of a hairstylist to that of a salon owner.

There are people sitting, or not showing up, who work in your establishment, who don’t have customers.

And we know hairstylist need customers to stay in business.

Whether you intended to or not, you took on the responsibility of helping them when you allowed them to join your team!

You’ll have to let go of thinking like a hairstylist and now think like a salon owner who is growing a business and getting customers for the entire salon.

If marketing has never been your thing, it has to become your thing now. A business that does not market does not grow!

I shared 7 more things to let go of in order to grow  your salon Career in this video (Let Go And Grow Your Salon)

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the video.

Did you hear something you need to let go of in order to grow your salon industry career?

Does your Business operate like a 24 Hour Walmart?

While consulting with a business owner the other day,  as we are discussing her ideal customer and target audience, she begins to tell me that her customers want to know they can access her anytime.
While this is a great pleasure for customers, it can be quite draining and unrealistic for the business owners. Leaving the business owner always on edge, unable to balance life and often times hit or miss with client conversions and income goals.

Consumers(your customers) have an innate habit of putting the things they can do anytime… last on their list.

There is no sense of urgency or importance.

Although I feel being consistently available for your clients is SOOOO IMPORTANT, if they can reach, schedule, or have services with you “any Ole time”…it can also lead to a rather chaotic life.

Eventually causing burn out, as well as affecting negatively so many other things in your life that only receive the very minimal of your time and energy.

Of course, we discussed a strategy that still offered her time to be available for her customers. But, also put boundaries and systems in place, still giving them an opportunity for emergency contact with her. ( but one where she was compensated greater in those instances)

I taught her systems where she was compensated when she had to reschedule her life to be available outside of the normal business hours that worked to harmonize her life.

Often times, fear makes entrepreneurs operate like a 24-hour Walmart. Not realizing that unlike Walmart and it’s productivity power, most small businesses are either one individual or a small T.E.A.M.

Fear( know as lack mentality) causes entrepreneurs not to put boundaries in place…afraid they that will lose customers. fear that there won’t be enough.

Ironically, many find that even when they are super available, they still don’t meet real financial goals they desire!

Having a plan, systems and realistic boundaries helps you serve from a higher place and create a business and lifestyle you love!

We teach people how to treat us.

Our expectations, our systems, and guidelines in our business help us to operate from a higher space of value and excellence, not from our reserve tank all the time, but from our overflow.

Is your salon busy during the holidays?

Holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Mother’s Day when it’s like super busy and you’re leaving the salon like 11:30 pm at night,

are the times where “it’s so easy to be fooled by those “brief moments of success.”

and then

there are many salons who experience the total opposite, tons of cancellations or clients not scheduling altogether during Holiday Seasons.

Then

there are those salons who are simply consistently busy!

What’s the difference?

I see many stylists in the salon industry professionals get really fooled by all the busyness and buzz during Holiday times!

Those seasons are a great time in the industry!

Families are blessed, people are making money, chairs are turning, money is being passed hand-over-fist… and then we forget that January and February are two of the slowest times of the year, as well as July. Or, even that next week after the holiday rush just may be looking a little slow on the book.

What’s the difference in how salon professionals experience holiday times and slow times?

Systems. Systems allow continued increase and flow in your business.

Here a few tips be mindful of during the busy holiday season, that are repeatable and can be considered as part of systems.

1- Do amazing profitable consultations with all your guest.

Maybe you will need to tell 2 people no, so you can spend an extra 15 minutes on building strong relationships with your new customers or those you have not seen in a while.

You really want to have the choice of being consistent like that all the time.

2- Create marketing plans and promotions that you rev up before and after the holidays

3-Be sure to get all your clients email address. Your email interaction is a way to connect with clients consistently and with the tap of a few buttons.

4- don’t overspend during great  Have a cushion for just in case financial times.

5 Know your business and the seasons

During this holiday time, you want to be ever so grateful for how the income has come in and how  you’ve been blessed in your salons, and in your Salon Suites, or hair stylist career…but never forget to prepare for the future

Traditionally, busy for a few months and then slow again has become what most salon professionals accept. It’s not a sustainable business. You have to prepare combat the normal slow times with consistent client attraction systems and strategies!

Great systems help you build so there is consistency.

Not so many highs and lows.

It’s easy to be fooled by the income and the increase that comes in sporadically dring holiday times. Holidays are an amazing time to bring new people into your salon… but retaining them, again, is the key!

You don’t want hit-or-miss businesses where you’re feeling like you’re on top of the world one week and wondering if yo should change career the next. Because it’s a holiday and a lot of people are in from out of town and other areas, and people are excited about getting their hair done it really can bring increased finances.

However, you want to see that income all the time!

I did a Free Master Class on Facebook called Wisdom to earn more in the Salon Industry.

You can check it out here FREE Master Class!

I had a special guest on the broadcast, Myeisha Edmonds, Certified Trichologist and licensed cosmetologist from New York, who shared how putting systems in place changed her business in less than 90 days! From Broken to Booked!

I teach many of those systems in the Mind Your Business Beauty Camp Membership Program. I created the Membership site to offer hairstylist and salon owners an opportunity to invest and learn to market and grow their business at amazing investment cost.

I’m sure you understand that hit or miss does not grow a sustainable business. What systems could you perfect so that you attract more clients instead of chasing them?

Not sure, head over right here to check out the opportunities to create the salon business and lifestyle you love! You can begin immediately!

Every day should feel like a Holiday in your Salon Business!

Why things don’t work in Salon Industry Careers!

My content calendar for my blog post had me scheduled to post about something else today… other than what I’m about to share!

But, I shifted a little because I wanted to really talk to you guys about measuring and results. They matter!

I see so many times where salon professionals take classes and courses or try new things in their salon business or career and finish feeling the same way they felt when they started… as it relates to their revenue or their business moving forward.

Here are a few reasons that happens:

  • Hairstylist and Salon Owners take courses that don’t align them with where they are “right now” in order to move forward. In other words, they take courses prematurely without deciding how thing will align with where they ultimately want to head in the future! Because it’s not aligned implementing it and seeing results becomes difficult or draining.

  • They take skill-set courses for styles that they don’t even enjoy doing or their customers have no desire or any need for.

What prompted me to switch and talk about this subject was when I checked my inbox from a client who took my Brand Build, Profit- Master Session for Salon Owners who shared with me her recent results. We did a session on a Client Attraction Systems that I taught about a week ago.

She shared with me that the first day that she applied the strategy within the Client Attraction System to her salon business, she gained three new customers, then shared with me this evening that she gained two customers from another strategy she just implemented today!

It made me think of how important it is for hairstylist and Salon Owners to look for results. Now every strategy won’t happen this fast, but they do happen faster when you take courses or apply strategies that align with where you are in your growth stage of your career or your unique level. Knowing where you are increases the chances of knowing what to focus on, when, and see results sooner!

It’s important that you measure.. and it’s even more important that you do the work!

Measuring helps to see where to place the most efforts to see the greatest result(profit)

Often times you will find that 80 % of your results really come from 20% of the work you do. This concept is called the Pareto principle  Coined through a principle shared by Vilfredo Pareto.

Also known as, THE LAW OF VITAL FEW.

There’s no way that my salon owner client would have gotten those results, even if I taught the most amazing strategies if she had not done the work!

Which is something I’ve noticed many salon industry professionals struggle with. Clarity will definitely  change this!

Measuring

Many Salon owners and hairstylists don’t know where to apply their time and energy because they don’t measure when applying strategies.

I teach my clients to

  • Have a vision for what they are doing

  • Always measure the results

  • And do the work!

So, I share this blog post with you to encourage you to do the same thing when you’re going to take classes and courses or apply new strategies in your business- career.

Have an open mind about receiving the information, be sure t you av a futrue business  but still getting information to imporve the level you are on now!

Things manifest when you do know the right strategies, and do the work!

Results matter!

I also have a video I want to share with you guys that I did recently that relates to this Blog Post. You can click here to watch it!

See you on next week’s Blog Post!

The Growth Stage in Your Salon Business

Being a Hair Stylist or Salon Owner operating in the Beauty Industry definitely goes through several phases, three of which I mentioned in a training on Facebook page last week. I also did a blog post on the first stage of growth, THE SEED STAGE, that a salon business or hair stylist career goes through!

So, today we’ll talk about Growth Stage of A Career in the Beauty Industry! I’ll highlight what that entails.

Let’s jump right in

  • In the Growth Stage of business, you may find yourself moving out of the survival mode. YESSSSS!
  • You normally have begun figuring out who your true customers are.
  • Your Income and Revenue feels a little more certain.
  • The Growth Stage is such a tricky stage/ You really have to be careful. In this stage, many people make the huge mistake of increasing their spending during the Growth Stage. After all, you’ve struggled for so long, it feels like freedom. You’ve worked hard, and you deserve it!
  • Many people make the Grave mistake of doing a lot of excess things with the increased Revenue in this stage of Growth.

This is actually where I feel you should really invest back into your business.

  • Begin putting money to the side
  • Get rid of things that just are not working.
  • Really sit down and look at the operational side of your business. Whether you are a hair stylist, salon owner, videographer, or cake baker… there is a business side to your business, and your attention to it will determine whether you continue to grow!
  • In the Growth Stage, you master being attentive to your business working functions and systems.
  • This is a time where you really should mastering your systems.
  • As you prepare for a greater influx of people and customers, you should market to them and service them with a greater ease and experience for the customer.
  • Your Customer Process should function at the highest. After all, we need customers to do business, and their experience with you is important. Scheduling appointments, the experience they have on the phone, their consultation, their check out process, their connections between visits.. all this stuff matter!
  • If you have staff or renters in your salon, their training, salon etiquette, staff meetings, all of this matters gravely too. Everyone in your business ultimately is “the experience” customers have in your place. Whether they are your client or another person’s in the salon, they are affected by staff. It becomes a part of your Brand, and how the marketplace sees you!
  • Take time in the Growth Stage to begin operating with specific systems. Recognize how well they work or don’t work! Tweak them so that they work to Peak Performance! This will help to eliminate some of the frustration that can occur because you are getting more customers and being exposed to more people. This is really a great time to focus on those systems because there are also more customers to spread the word if things are not operating well.
  • This is a huge time for reflection! It can even feel like you have taken a seat back when you actually haven’t, you’ve just taken an opportunity to maximize and master your time, your energy, your money, your resources, your connections and your systems
  • Sometimes LESS IS MORE!
  • The Growth Stage is really a time to use some of the added Revenue to get help in your business so that it makes doing business easier and not harder.
  • Start delegating some of the lower level tasks out to someone else so you can focus on the income producing things that you are great at, whether that is simply being a great stylist or an excellent visionary as a salon owner!
  • Don’t be The Lone Ranger.
  • You Simply Can’t do it all and do it with a spirit of excellence!

This pretty much details many of the things that ae expected and the things that you should Master in your Growth Stage.

Measuring will be everything to mastering this Level and preparing

for the next.

I would love to hear from you about what stage you feel your salon career is in so far.

Hopefully this has challenged you take another look at your business!

Leave your comments below!

Until Next week( Where we discuss the last stage, The Expansion Stage)

Is your Salon Career in Survival Mode?

Are you operating with a survival mindset or Prosperity mindset in your Salon Career?

Yesterday, inside my private group, “Mind Your Business For The Beauty Industry” on Facebook, I began a series on The 4 P’s To A Prosperous Salon Career.

Before I ever got into what the details of the series were, I taught them about mindset.

I shared how when I first started as a stylist, I worked in a really, really busy salon and I made pretty good money, at least for a 20-year-old who didn’t have a lot of other responsibilities.

Even at 45% commission I was doing clients all the time and I would still earn right under$1,000 weekly( I still remember my first check was $812 dollars)

Just starting out in my career, after about 8 months to a year, I begin to get the “big head”.

I decided it was time for me to step out on my own and go forward to renting a booth.

Guys wouldn’t you know, it flopped!

I ended up having my vehicle repossessed!

Guys, what happened? How did I go from having all of these clients to now not even having enough to pay my normal living expenses!

Over time I realized, I did not know the business side of hair. I could do the skill set, but the business side…. I didn’t know it!

And… my mindset at that time was totally focused on learning skill set ( how to do the latest styles) not knowing that there were strategic things that I need to do( marketing, proper promotions) in order to maintain the customers that I had previously. The salon I was at …did all the marketing. They did all the getting, maintaining clients, and the strategies that would teach how to profit.

What happened when I left? I went into survival mode. So I was only doing enough to get me by for that day.

You know the never-ending cycle where you feel like you are chasing clients instead of attracting clients!  Where you are just praying for enough to pay immediate bills.

It’s such a trap that most don’t recognize because there are no strategies in place to make more. The focus is ALL off, and going to work behind the chair just becomes routine.

I did not have a Prosperity Mindset!

“So, Tanya,” you say, ”What’s the prosperity mindset as it relates to my Salon Industry Career?”

  • A prosperity mindset is a mindset that prepares for longevity! (long-term success)
  • Survival Mindset only focuses on what they need to do to get that client in the chair for today… to make it for today! There are absolutely no strategies in place that will give them a continuous flow of customers.
  • With a Prosperity Mindset, regardless of the economy, regardless of whether it’s July (Statistically the slowest month of the year for most business) a Prosperity Mindset puts strategies and systems in place that helps to assure they have a consistent flow of clients coming all the time.

This subject means a lot to me because I’ve experienced being on both sides of the spectrum.

I have to always do a self-check-in my own business to make sure I am maximizing my efforts and always focused on growth for my business. It’s something you should do too.

Because it registers so much with me, I also shared it with my followers on my FaceBook Fan page. You can catch the video Here!

So, I asked you on today, “Are you in survival mode? Are you operating in a survival mindset in your salon career or with a Prosperity Mindset?”

I actually have a free Mindset “Money Nugget” Assessment to those in my Private Group on Face book. If you are a Hair Stylist or Salon Owner, feel free to join us in the group to grab yours and catch our new Series, “The 4 P’s to a Successful Salon Career.”  Our first training was live on Tuesday and will be up in the group until our next part of the series on Next Tuesday!

Here are a few strategies to consider:

  • Client Building systems that you put in place, do consistently, tweak and do again.
  • Measuring your marketing efforts to see what’s working and what’s not
  • Have a strategic plan for your business growth each year, every 90 days, weekly, and even daily!

There isn’t a lot about a Salon Ownership or being a successful Hairstylist that’s random.

Although we are artsy and free-spirited (Such creatives),  we need consistent systems if we expect consistent massive growth!

Until Next week

It’s not too late!

-Be willing to do it different! What could you do different in your business now so you can live greater later--It’s not too late!

One of the main things I’m noticing when Consulting with Hairstylists and Salon Owners is this uneasy feeling they have about their age, or the number of years that they’ve been in the industry yet feel unaccomplished, or even some of the things they feel they may have failed at in the past. This weighs heavy on my heart because I understand it is very possible to experience burnout and lose hope about what you’re doing. It’s important to know that you can reinvent yourself. When I think back on my career, I have reinvented myself on several occasions within the same industry!

It’s important to know that you can reinvent yourself. When I think back on my career, I have reinvented myself on several occasions within the same industry!

Recently, I hosted my 3D Success Mentorship and Branding BootCamp and featured my mentor from the beauty industry to facilitate one of the weekly sessions. One thing she stated in the class that stood out for me was centered around reinvention. She actually talked about three very important principles for any entrepreneur or person who owns a business… Discovery, Branding, and Reinvention. The reinvention stage really connected with me because of what I’ve been hearing from several stylists who have been in the industry for 10 or 15 years who feel the industry may be something they need to just do away with.

When in actuality, they may just need to “rediscover and reinvent themselves”.

So, if you have been feeling as if it’s too late for you or the success you want to reach is never possible, I wanted to encourage you and share about five people you know, may have seen on TV, or in media and in the news, who actually came up on their “Big Moments” at the age of 40 or beyond.

  • If you’re in your 20’s and 30’s, you just hit the 30 mark, and feel like you haven’t quite achieved what you desire…all hope is not lost.
  • If you’re 40 or 50 years old and finding you just don’t know what to do in the industry you’re in…maybe reinvention is actually what you need.

Here are 6 people who made it big well after their forties:

Martha Stewart

Viola Davis

Vera Wang

Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel Walton

Henry Ford

…just to name a few.

Each and every one of these well-known people were well into their forties, some even 50’s, before they had their “Big Moment”.

So, I want to encourage you on today that it’s not too late.

Maybe you just need to take a look at all the things that you’ve learned, the areas you can improve on, and do what my mentor suggested, “Reinvent Yourself”.

I did. Here is how my journey went! I went from college student to Beauty School student, to a salon assistant, to an employee at a salon, to a booth renter, plat form artist, educator, to a salon owner, and now to a Business Consultant for the beauty Industry! Each and every one of those stages required me to take lessons I learned prior, learn new things, and reinvent where I wanted to take my destiny.

I’m here to encourage you that is definitely not too late.

What is it you really want to do?

There are many ways to take what you know, and not necessarily n start all over, but build from where you are and reinvent yourself.

You can still be great… and need help!

You Can Be A Great Hairstylist...and still need Help (1)It’s Possible to Be Great And Still Need Help!

I’ve been hosting a week long webinar with some amazing professionals in the beauty industry and one reoccurring theme for each expert is the fact that they did not do it alone. I think sometimes there is a misconception about being a SOLOPRENEUR that defeats us as entrepreneurs.

Our expert last night said< ” You don’t Know what you don’t know”

Where you are now is simply based on what YOU know.

Mentorship has been a reoccurring theme each night on the webinar as the experts shared their success stories and strategies. It was so in line with what caused a major shift in my career when I started as a Hairstylist behind the chair some 20+ years ago. I remember leaving a salon after working there a year, where I was really busy because I felt I could do it on my own.  Little did I know, I knew nothing about “the business of hair” I actually went from making close to $1,000 weekly( and that was my commissioned take home pay) to having my vehicle taken away.

Yeah! That was a hard reality. It wasn’t until I worked under my mentor in a super profitable salon( one of 9 she owned at the time) that I begin to learn “the business of hair!”

You Can Be a Great Hairstylist (1)

That understanding was seed for me to later open my own successful salon for 10 years and go from not being able to pay my car payment, to now purchasing my vehicles without financing, in cash! What hit me?. I only knew what I knew, and I simply didn’t know what I didn’t know. I was a “great” technical stylists( could SLAY some hair :), but I knew nothing about marketing, systems, and business strategies that would allow me to profit in my hairstylist career let alone run a salon with staff. renters, or employees. I learned that being mentored and being in an atmosphere where someone else had already gone the mile, my career shifted quickly. After working with my mentor. I went on to do platform work, become an educator, build a strong clientele, resulting in using 2 assistants, to opening my own successful salon for 10 years before taking on the endeavor to consult, coach and mentor other stylists in the industry like yourself. LONG STORY SHORT: I HAD HELP. I’ve learned that it doesn’t mean I’m not great just because I need help. Unfortunately, many hair stylists and salon owners simply aren’t realistic about where they really are in their hairstylist career and the need to seek help. I shared with the webinar attendees last night that something changed for me when it became important to not just look successful from the outside, but that what was going on behind the scenes matched what was perceived by the public. I share all of this with you because you could very well be in that very space where you have done ALL YOU KNOW. It’s possible to be great and still need help. I would love to help you! I have a community of Hairstylist and Salon Owners who took my “3D Success Mentorship and Branding Boot Camp- For Hairstylist and Salon Owners” Round 1, that are seeing incredible results from the strategies they learned and applied. Their clientele is steadily growing, they are making efforts in their business that multiply their effort, not just add! They are working smarter, not harder and really operating their hair stylist career and salon like a real business.  They are managing SYSTEMS, one of the things needed to have consistency and longevity in their business. Many of my Hairstylists and Salon Owner clients are booked all the time, opening new salons, buying commercial buildings and prospering because of their discipline and some simple strategies they’ve learned from Boot Camp! Our second round of Boot Camp starts in just a few days. If you know you don’t want the rest of this year or 2018 to look the same for your salon career make an investment in yourself and your business. You can take action now and save your seat today for only $49 and weekly reoccurring payments of only $62 for 8 weeks( the cost of eating out)!

It’s possible to be great and still need help! I’d love to help you profit for real in your salon business.
