Does your business run when you aren’t there?

In 2003 I opened a brick and mortar business, at that time it was a Salon & Boutique.
We offered only hair care services at that time( later a full-service Day Spa)
specialty clothing, ( I had formed relationships with wholesalers in the Garment District in New York, The Atlanta Market, and Wholesale companies online.) We only carried 3 of any clothing item at a time.
Skin care products,( Pure Shea Butter, Lotions and soaps)
and hard to find perfumes and fragrances. More of a Lifestyle Salon.

In 2005, one month shy of 2 years after opening I had my daughter.
After two weeks of being out of work completely, I attempted to go back to work( not servicing clients) to operate my front desk. I wanted to see hands-on how things were going! I got nightly reports of the sales from staff, but I needed to see

That didn’t work.
I was not ready .
I realized quickly after only a few hours at the desk that I would do the entire 6 weeks like I very well should.

At 6 weeks I was struggling emotionally to leave my daughter in someone else’s care.
Luckily, one of my clients owned several Day Care’s in our city and one of the locations was a small private location for infants attached to her home. YESSSS.
That was definitely my best source of comfort because she had been a client of our salon for years. Even prior to me opening my own location.

She actually gave me this journal about a year before I stopped being a booth renter and on to ownership.
I wrote everything in this book, wholesale distributors, plans down to the dollar, marketing and retailing courses I would take, and several systems I created that would be the reason I was able to stay out of work and still function.

So off I go, back to work servicing clients in my business.
Then, my daughter got sick with a respiratory infection that had me out of work again. This time, I did not return to work fulltime for 8 months. I only worked about 4 hours of 2-3 evenings each week, but the salon remained open.
Thank God, my daughter didn’t stay sick for 8 months, but I really wanted her to be older before taking her to back to daycare.

How on earth did we stay open? I was in almost 2000 square foot of building, with staff, and in a prime location!

Systems.
When I look back on it, I was nervous at that time. We were still fairly new, some of the staff were new, but systems, goals, and having other revenue streams definitely helped us in that season.

So many service-based business owners open the business and build jobs for themselves that require them to be present to make money! Even if they have staff, their focus is on getting clients for themselves.

I feel the goal for owners should be personal mastery and developing leadership not necessarily focusing on doing more customers themselves.

That experience taught me early that I wasn’t superwomen, it was okay to need help, and doing it alone was not the goal!

I encourage you this morning to get clear on your Growth Path for your business.

Build one that gives you time freedom and revenue without you being present!

You will build it and strategize completely different!

Prioritize to prosper

Are you motivated, but lack direction?
Have you ever felt like you were working hard, but just not prospering? Did you know you can take authority over every situation in your life simply by positioning yourself to receive the things that you need in order to prosper?
Prosper is defined as to do well or succeed.
Let’s face it, when we hear the word prosper we hear more than just paying bills.
Prospering often starts with taking a good look at where you are and deciding what you need to do to achieve your ideal success. Find out what’s most important! Do that. Make it a priority. “Prioritizing to Prosper” is simply positioning yourself for an increase. Here are some things I help people find clarity on in my consulting practice through  Renew Strategy Sessions!  They are things that often get overlooked in all the busyness and pursuit!
Here are 3 things you can do to prioritize your business to prosper.
~1 Declutter your personal space
Yes, we are talking about your business, however, everything that transpires in your personal life affects your business life. Begin the decluttering process in your personal life, and your space at home. This is where you spend most of your downtime. This time needs to offer room to create, not stress over the busyness of your space. If it’s broken, you cannot use it, it is no longer of any use, or if it belongs to someone else… release it. Declutter your space! Prioritize your space so you can prosper and then go and do the same thing in your business. If it’s broken, if it’s not working, if you are not using, if it serves no purpose, if it does not allow you to be creative, make money, or causes you stress just looking at it…release it. Declutter
Now that you have decluttered things your view is probably a lot more clear.
2.Use this opportunity to decide where you would like your business to head. Many business owners make the grave mistake of not quite knowing where they want their business to head. No real plan or strategy and no realistic goals with dates. But not you. You are now in a great position to get clear and specific about where you want your business to head.
*Do you want to work fewer hours and offer more premium services?
* If you are a licensed stylist, do you want to open a salon?
*Do you want to commission staff or booth renters?
* How many people would you like to hire and by what date?
Theses are the type of questions you have to ask yourself.
Or
*Maybe you want to travel
*Offer mobile services
*Be a freelance artist.
What is it you want to do in your career?
Now that you have decluttered things that no longer serve you, -you are in a position to receive the things that will allow you to obtain greater, the things you truly want your career or business to be. You are now in a position to clearly align yourself with what you desire for your work-life.
In the decluttering stage, I’m sure you found things that were not working, however, you knew they still needed to be part of the equation. They just needed to be adjusted so they bring an increase.
3. Make a list of things that need readjusting so they operate at maximum potential. Maybe for you, it’s
* Gaining new customers for the staff you already have,
*Gaining more exposure by marketing efforts
*Hiring a manager or front desk to help with administrative duties to operate at a higher level of customer service for your customers.
You should now be able to detail what needs to be adjusted so that you can prosper. Prioritize your activities so that they line up with your goals. Don’t just work in the business, work on the business. Prioritize your business to prosper!
Ask yourself: What is it that I can release in order to increase? What do I need to create in order to maintain?”
These are three ways that you can prioritize your business to prosper in 2016! Release in order to increase!

Get moving! Action yields clarity and growth

I say all of this in love:
Please do me a favor, stop waiting on what you want to fall out of the sky. There is no magic genie to rub. It is going to require action.
I see and hear so many talk about faith and what they are going to do and have, and yet so few ever really do anything other than what they’ve always done.
Do you believe that you can sit home, do your normal routine in life, pray all day and just wait?
I’m sorry to inform you, that is not enough. Prayer will give you strength and speaking it helps to renew your mindset, but it is action (work) that gets the ball rolling and helps you to grow.
What we do without thinking daily are habits. As innocent as they may seem, if they are not yielding the results you want, you need to replace them with new ones. You take the same route to work everyday, you eat from the same restaurants, your social interactions are with the same people, and you are not open to doing things anyway other than how you’ve always done them. Creativity and new ideas are sparked from external interaction. You need to take action now , different from your normal, to continue growing.
Popping your own bubble may be just what you need. Fresh air, new ideas, new divine connects, and a new action plan. Clarity is recognized when you’re doing new things. You learn through activity.
Outside external connections are not likely to knock on your door, but a change in routine, scenery and even extracurricular activities will expose you to new doors.
You don’t have to climb Mt.Everest tomorrow, but you do need to take action today. You were created for greatness. Let’s Go! #TakeActionNow
